Usually QRV CW most evenings after dark near 474.5 kHz and pre-sunrise most mornings (1030z - 1100z start time). I'm not a night owl so don't look for me late.

630 Meter Daily Reports

Really busy night on the band with activity observed on CW, RTTY, SSB, FST4 and WSPR, resulting in many completed QSO’s including several that were at transcontinental distances; Reports suggest that trans-Atlantic openings were down a bit, possibly due to the 160 meter contest; Pacific and trans-Pacific openings were once again fairly typical with reasonable openings between JA, KL7, VK and KH6; Final summary – thanks to all that contributed over the years – keep doing what you are doing!

Decent activity in North America given that it was a 160 meter CW contest weekend with mostly regional QSO’s completed but also a few that were at transcontinental distances including one between W7XU and K9FD (/KH6); Trans-Atlantic openings were similar to the previous session, producing many interesting reports but nothing out of the ordinary; Pretty much standard fare in the Pacific with typical JA openings from VK and KH6 and trans-Pacific openings from Oceania reached only into the western regions of North America; K2BLA reports the possibility of some evening RTTY tonight

Very unstable band conditions early turned into a very successful and serviceable session as W7OUU worked his first QSO with W7XU, putting Idaho back in play and giving a number of stations a new state; A bit of evening CW was peppered with RTTY by a few stations; Record night for WSPR reported by KM5SW, K2BLA and KE7A as more dormant stations return to reporting; Trans-Atlantic openings seemed down a bit compared to recent sessions but G0MRF, PA0LSB, GM3YXM and EI0CF seemed to be consistently reported by a number of North American stations while K2BLA, KB8U, K5DNL and others made it to the other side; Trans-Pacific openings improved a bit with VK4YB reported as far East as K0KE and VK5FQ received reports from K9FD (/KH6); Openings to JA from VK and KH6 were reasonable;

Strong midday activity and high QSO totals once again, transitioning into a productive evening session that included several transcontinental and late evening trans-Atlantic QSO’s in spite of reported of elevated QSB on longer paths; Plentiful trans-Atlantic reports noted by several operators on both sides of the pond including four Europeans reported at ZF1EJ; Trans-Equatorial openings retreated a bit with just a single report of G0MRF at FR5DH; Trans-Pacific openings were down from recent sessions but still hanging on and reasonable openings to JA continue for K9FD (/KH6) and VK4YB plus several nice reports for JA0HXV in KH6

Plentiful afternoon openings and activity flared up in North America resulting in a number of impromptu daylight QSO’s; Evening propagation and band conditions were more variable but transcontinental openings were observed and utilized in spite of Winter weather difficulties in the East; Slow start with depressed conditions reported for Trans-Atlantic paths but it was still a very productive night for WSPR including three European stations reported at ZF1EJ; FR5DH reported eight WSPR decodes between two European stations; Better night in the Pacific as VK3HP and JA0HXV joined VK4YB on regional openings to K9FD (/KH6) while trans-Pacific openings looked similar to the previous session; Midday activity today at 1900z but get there when you can!

Just an awful evening in North America or it felt worse than it actually was with no discernible onset enhancement after the magnetic field tipped South; Domestic CW openings improved considerably this morning but noise remained a problem in many parts of North America; NO3M completed a digital QSO with GM3YXM for what is likely the first QSO between Scotland and the US; Trans-Atlantic openings were down but surprisingly good for eastern stations in spite of elevated geomagnetic conditions; Trans-Pacific openings included reports of K9FD at ZF1EJ and in the eastern portions of North America while VK4YB, operating at AX4YB, received reports as far East as KM5SW; Openings to JA were decent and only reported in one direction; Midday operating activity TOMORROW, centering around 1900z but get there when you can!

Light activity and diminished propagation in North America as unsettled geomagnetic conditions emerge, seemingly impacting trans-Atlantic openings in spite of a completed QSO between NO3M and PA0LSB; Transcontinental openings were also reported to be down and noise levels were up from a large storm system in the central US; Remarkably, G0MRF reported twice at KL7L, VE6JY and FR5DH; Pacific region openings included decent paths to JA for VK4YB and K9FD (/KH6) but trans-Pacific openings were limited to VK4YB reports as far East as VE6JY

Excellent CW session with many QSO’s completed including N2VJ’s longest with NI6Q in Arizona and many others making the band sound like a CW contest weekend; G0MRF completed FST4 QSO’s with NO3M and K9KFR while SWL I55387FI reported first time trans-Atlantic receptions; VE6JY reported polar signals from G0MRF; K8YBU took his maiden voyage, completing his first QSO with K8HTL, followed by K9KFR and others; LU8DPM reported one European and three North American stations; Compared to recent sessions, early Pacific band conditions were a bit ”sedate” with VK4YB reports as far East as KM5SW and as far North as KL7 and VE6; K9FD (/KH6) received reports from New England and the East coast and paths to JA from KH6 and VK were close to normal

Very strong session for North America that included good domestic activity plus DX QSO’s between G0MRF and K9KFR, WA3U and K8HTL; N0LBY took his maiden voyage on the band, completing his first reported QSO with K9KFR; Record night on WSPR for K5DNL with a 148 stations decoding him, many reports coming from Europe; LU8DPM reported six European and North American stations; FR5DH reported two transmissions from G0MRF; VK4YB reported that the ”iron curtain” returned with trans-Pacific openings only as far East as VE6JY but also a sizable number of reports at KL7L; JA0HXV also reported at KL7L; Overall a decent night in the Pacific region

After a slow start in North America this session really took off with excellent CW activity and a new state for W7XU, N9LB after completing digital QSO’s with K9FD (/KH6); NV4X reported his first trans-Atlantic decodes at GM4OAS and receptions of G0MRF; Reports of SM6NOC and G0MRF at K3MF and NO3M plus polar openings for PA0LSB to KL7L; Probably another record night for K5DNL with many reports in Europe and Oceania; Trans-Pacific openings look very good with a return of VK4YB reports in the eastern US as far away as NO3M; Nice Pacific openings to KL7L and K9FD for JA3TVF, JA1PKG and JA0HXV

Geomagnetic conditions hit unsettled levels resulting in some mixed feelings about the session, more favorable than not, but challenging northerly paths did not deter digital QSO’s for NO3M, G0MRF and WA3U once again; KD3UY completed his first QSO on the band with WA3U; KA1R reported a strong night for a lot of stations on trans-Atlantic paths using WSPR and FST4; FR5DH reported eight European stations from fifty spots and wonders if the weather conditions played a role in the openings; Trans-Pacific conditions included openings from K9FD (/KH6) to ZF1EJ and into the Northeast plus VK4YB reported at VE6JY and KL7L; JA3TVF reported at K9FD (/KH6); Don’t forget about tomorrow’s midday activity at 1900z!

QSB was a consistent theme in reporting for this session but for the patient (and lucky!), big QSO’s were completed including those between NO3M / G0MRF and KL7L/JA0HXV/JH3XCU; NC0B returned to air after a long hiatus, giving out several initial QSO’s; Trans-Atlantic openings seemed improved including reports of PA0LSB and G0MRF at ZF1EJ plus a number of reports for K5DNL in Europe; Good night for Pacific and trans-Pacific openings including JA0HXV reported in the western US plus first time reports under part-97 rules for K5DNL at JH1INM; Openings between VK4YB and VE6JY were plentiful and Pacific Rim openings to JA were also better than recent sessions

Domestic propagation seemed pretty good for many parts of North America including a brief digital opening between W7IUV and N9RU while on-going storm noise in the Southeast did not hinder too many regional QSO’S; NO3M engaged in a three-hour digital QSO attempt with SM6NOC; Pacific region openings were pretty good including a digital QSO between K9FD (/KH6) and JA0HXV, only the second QSO between these entities; Trans-Pacific openings were a bit better with VK4YB reaching into the continental interior, receiving reports from KM5SW plus decent Pacific Rim openings to and from JA to KL7, KH6 and VK; Long haul reports for K9FD (/KH6) at ZF1EJ; Nice session for CW even if it was a game of cat and mouse

Many one-way reports during this week’s midday activity but a handful of QSO’s were completed; Evening activity faced moderate to high noise levels with reports and QSO’s struggling compared to recent sessions; Trans-Atlantic reports were similar to yesterday with G0MRF dominating decodes in North America while K3RWR and W1IR made a big showing in Europe; While trans-Atlantic openings were not as deep as preferred, they were more plentiful than the previous session plus JA3TVF and JA0HXV were reported in KL7 and KH6 once again; Decent openings to JA for KL7L and K9FD (/KH6) but path was down for VK4YB; Possible later summary publication time on Friday!

Unsettled geomagnetic conditions returned bringing deeper than normal QSB cycles and weaker signals on some paths but activity remained good including transcontinental QSO’s and trans-Atlantic openings that yielded reports for Europe and North America; FR5DH reported PA0LSB and G0MRF, two station both firmly in the DX spotlight during this session; Many trans-Pacific openings from Oceania to North America appeared to be weak or missing but VK/ZL and KL7 experienced nice openings with one another while K9FD exchanged reports with a number of eastern mainland stations; JA openings were once again very good plus JA3TVF and JA0HXV reported in KL7 and KH6; Midday activity at 1900z TODAY!

Very good propagation reported by a number of stations including long haul openings between the western region of North America, LA2XPA and G0MRF plus a few transcontinental QSO’s; Ice didn’t stop K9KFR from a strong QRP showing in Indiana; Stable evening conditions led to a four-way CW round table between N2VJ, WB3AVN, WA1JAS and W3EMD that lasted over an hour; Trans-Atlantic openings included first time reports for WM3M at LA2XPA; FR5DH reported two European stations on Reunion Island; Trans-Pacific openings were a bit better with a few more reports for VK4YB in the western region of North America plus on going reports at JA0HXV and RW0LFE; KL7L reported JA0HXV and VK4YB plus several ”lower-48” stations on WSPR and FST4

What started out as a quite good domestic session for those not dealing with an ice storm ultimately led to deteriorating long haul propagation for some and relatively poor band conditions this morning in North America; Evening openings included a transcontinental CW QSO and many other regional QSO’s plus a number of above average signals; Early trans-Atlantic openings looked promising including a digital QSO for G0MRF and WA3U plus PA0LSB WSPR reports at ZF1EJ; LU8DPM reported four North American stations including 200 mW EIRP K2BLA; Trans-Pacific openings remain on autopilot for VK4YB but he added early Pacific Rim openings to RW0LFE in addition to JA3TVF; KL7L crossed the pole again to LA2XPA in addition to reporting JA0HXV

Very nice New Year’s Eve activity in North America including more trans-Atlantic QSO’s, reaching further into the continent than the previous session but transcontinental openings were a bit of a challenge; Noise and weather conditions challenged a number of usual SKN participants as lower CW activity observed compared to recent sessions; Nice reports in the Caribbean as ZF1EJ and 8P5AB report a healthy number of North American stations; Very strong night for KL7L with more Polar openings to LA2XPA and a strong night of reports from JA stations; More of the same for trans-Pacific paths as VK4YB reported in KL7, W6 and VE6 plus a few reports in JA but propagation remains troubled in the Pacific

Excellent North American midday session with great activity and nice, long QSO’s, including W7XU and KB8U in excess of 650 miles plus WB4JWM QSO’s with NO3M and KB8U at 600 miles; Great night for trans-Atlantic openings including both WSPR reports and a QSO between PA0LSB and N1SV but a number of one-way openings were reported that impeded DX QSO completion; Stations further West reported ”different” trans-Atlantic openings, favoring northern Africa over Europe; 8P5AB puts Barbados on the map reporting G0MRF and a number of stations across North America using only a 5BTV vertical; FR5DH reported five European stations; Trans-Pacific paths continue to struggle a bit as openings for VK4YB reach only as far as W6GJB and KL7L, which was very different from just a year ago; Late JA opening to JA9MAT and polar path opening to LA2XPA for KL7L

The Christmas eve ”skeleton crew” did a nice job keeping activity on the air on a night that is historically not very busy and one that was fairly noisy; LU8DPM reported G0MRF for the sole trans-Equatorial decode of the session; Other trans-Atlantic openings seemed down but were still present and accounted for by some of the usual suspects; EA5DOM continues to enjoy success with his Christmas greeting beacon; Trans-Pacific openings included VK4YB reports at VE6JY, KM5SW and across the western region and a nice night of reports for KL7L, making the long trip to VK4YB plus several reports in JA

Midday propagation was relatively poor for paths over 400 miles and challenging at times for shorter paths due to elevated Winter storm noise; Poor evening conditions reported but early activity showed good effort by a number of operators; Another good night for trans-Equatorial openings with one European and three North American stations reported at LU8DPM; Trans-Atlantic reports including EI0CF, G0MRF, PA0LSB and others plus a few North American stations reported in Europe; Trans-Pacific openings were probably about the same if WSPRnet data is to be trusted but VK4YB made it to New Mexico and Alaska and Pacific Rim JA openings also looked brighter; Hellschreiber Christmas greetings from K3MF and NO3M plus Christmas CW at EA5DOM

Another nice night for trans-Atlantic QSO’s as G0MRF takes advantage of unsettled geomagnetic conditions to complete several QSO’s, some well into the Midwest; Reasonable trans-Atlantic WSPR session with stations as far West as the central US reported in Europe and a nice showing for Eight European stations in the eastern half of North America; Trans-Equatorial openings resulted in six North American stations reported at LU8DPM; Nice showing for KL7L with reports into the central US and Midwest; Trans-Pacific openings from VK4YB seemed to hit a brick wall in the western region of North America; Make plans to be QRV tomorrow at 1900z for the weekly Midday activity

Winter Solstice arrived this morning and brought with it strong domestic signals plus evening trans-Atlantic and transcontinental QSO’s and reports but overall band activity seemed down; Trans-Atlantic openings were very healthy across the eastern half of North America into the central US plus eight Europeans reported in the US and Canada; Trans-Equatorial openings included one European stations and four North American stations reported at LU8DPM; Trans-Pacific openings were similar to the previous session with VK4YB reported at W7XU and at several other western stations and nice Pacific Rim openings to JA; WSPRnet problems appear to have impacted KL7L data set

Tougher session than the previous with high noise reported by many plus less robust trans-Atlantic openings than the previous session but N1SV scored his first DX QSO of the season with G0MRF; Nice transcontinental openings taken advantage of by KR7O and N1VF; Trans-Equatorial openings returned for four North American stations receiving reports at LU8DPM; Trans-Atlantic openings remain quite good with a number of eastern and central US stations receiving reports from Europeans as well as a few reports of Europeans in North America; Trans-Pacific openings were about normal with VK4YB reaching into the central US plus decent openings between JA and VK; WSPRnet problems reported this morning so data is likely incomplete

Remarkable night for trans-Atlantic DX as a number of stations completed initial QSO’s resulting in new ”personal best’s” and achieving long-sought goals while others experienced considerable success receiving DX stations; Several trans-Atlantic openings reported in the western region of North America; Also a strong session for domestic CW and digital QSO’s; Banner night for KL7L who returned to air after many receive-only sessions, receiving polar reports from LA2XPA plus very nice coverage into the ”lower-48”; Trans-Pacific openings were also strong with VK4YB reports at KL7L and into the central US; Pacific Rim paths from JA to KL7 and VK were excellent

Midday activity band conditions were down compared to last week but QSO’s up to 400 miles away were not uncommon; Killer QSB was the evening buzzkill plus lower activity, likely due to weather conditions in the East and Northeast but a full slate of QSO’s were completed on CW and digital modes; Trans-Atlantic openings included six North American stations heard at EI0CF including very late reports for KB8U and G0MRF makes his 2020 debut from the remote site, receiving reports into the central US and across the East; Trans-Equatorial openings were plentiful for LU8DPM including a ”new one” reported plus K5DNL made the trip to LU8DQ; Trans-Pacific openings remain on autopilot with VK openings to VE6 and KL7 plus JA0HXV reported at KL7L
