Typical Operating Schedule

Usually QRV CW most evenings, tuning between 472.5 kHz and 475 kHz with CQ's on or near 474.5 kHz. Occasionally QRV JT9, 474.2 kHz dial + 1000 - 1350 Hz. QRV some mornings starting around 1100z on CW. Sked requests are welcome. All activity is noise and WX permitting

Lots of JT9 activity and a number of new stations on the air in North America finding success with low power and simple antennas including KA9OKH, W8ARE and NC8W; More QRN ahead of expected G1/G2 storm conditions, will we see enhancements in the coming sessions?

Weird, slow start to domestic session with signals originating from atypical directions but was a very solid night after band settled down; WA1OJN first JT9 QSO with K9MRI; Good CW signals from K9KFR; Good trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific including first time AE5X -> ZL2AFP using WSPR; N1BUG takes maiden voyage using WSPR as he continues to improve his system; K3MF QRV first time and making station improvements

Fast QSB was the dominant feature on this quiet night in North America where modes with deeper detection limits enjoyed most success; Strong trans-Atlantic openings continue for WSPR users

Geomagnetic conditions weren’t poor but the band wasn’t necessarily in a good way either with just a few enhancements reported and a lot of weaker signals and QSB overall; Whether it was a good session depends on who you ask but at least band was quiet with lots of activity; CQ NA on JT9 de F5WK!

It was another very good session but many think it was not quite as good as the last session as unsettled geomagnetic conditions return for one reporting period; New JT9 station W3XY worked by K9MRI; Band activity was high with many late evening transcontinental QSO’s completed; Trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific openings remain very healthy

Remember what I said about last session being one of the strongest this season? Scratch that because this one may have replaced it; Great trans-Atlantic openings at JT9 QSO levels (and CW in some cases!) but late night in Europe meant the opportunity was missed; Strong transcontinental JT9 QSO’s and reports including 84 mW EIRP K5DOG <-> VE7SL and VE7SL -> KA1R; First 630-meter DX for WB4JWM; Pre-sunset openings indicate we need to check band earlier; Geomagnetic conditions may be changing again soon
