The band was in pretty good shape overnight at my station. The path to KH6 and KL7 were open in addition to the variety of usual suspect around North America that are QRV each night. Geomagnetic activity was a little unstable, shifting between unsettled in quiet conditions on an almost predicable pattern across several reporting periods. Protons were elevated to high levels overnight and the Bz was variable pointing to the South through much of the overnight period, shifting to the North as this report is developed. Solar wind velocity peaked in excess of 575 km/s. DST values exhibited typical “peak before decrease” behavior and the decrease has thus far been significant:
This morning’s CW sked was plagued with significant noise from storms entering northern Oklahoma that I could not null. The QSO proceeded as normal but it was tougher than it should have been.
ZP4KFX in Paraguay was listening on 472 WSPR for the first time over night. I am hopeful that he will continue to check in as stations in the northern hemisphere transition to Autumn and Winter operating schedules.
Neil, W0YSE/7 / WG2XSV, had a pretty strong night to Alaska and offers these details:
“My signal seemed to penetrate well into Alaska last night, John.
Heard by: WH2XGP, NO1D, VA7JX, VE7CNF, VE7SL, WE2XPQ 14 times !!
WH2XCR only 2 times,
Hearing: WH2XGP, VE7CNF, VE7SL, WG2XIQ only 1x @-31,
WH2XCR only 1x @-28“
Regional and continental WSPR breakdowns follow:
There were no reports from the trans-Atlantic, trans-African, trans-Equatorial or Caribbean paths. UA0SNV and ZF4KFX were present during the session but no reports have been filed at this time.
Laurence, KL7L / WE2XPQ, had a nice session, including reports of my signal, which is always nice because it does not happen very often:
Merv, K9FD/KH6 / WH2XCR, also had a relatively strong session although Roger, VK4YB, noted that he could see several signals from Merv that did not yield decodes earlier in the session. It seems that later luck changed and Roger shared two-way reports with Merv:
