Activity appears to have been high in spite of storms that kept several stations off the air or operating in a limited capacity. Geomagnetic activity was elevated and peaked at unsettled levels ahead of expected storm levels. The Bz was generally pointing to the North but has begun to slip to the South as solar wind velocities range from 480 to 500+ km/s.
Joe, VO1NA, reports that his CW on 477.7 kHz was going to be active until sunrise this morning. In the previous session, Roloef, PA0RDT, reported that while noise levels were high, limiting his ability to audibly hear the Joe’s CW, the signal was visible on Roloef’s spectrum display and these reports represent the sole trans-Atlantic reports for that session. During this session, Stefan, DK7FC, reported Joe’s signal on the northwest receive antenna from his remote forest receive site:
Rick, W7RNB, in the Seattle area filed for his Part-5 grant this weekend. Its nice to see guys preparing their stations prior to the start of the next season and ahead of Part-97 implementation.

In preparation for Field Day 2016, a status page showing participating stations in the demonstration and outreach opportunity has been set up and can be viewed here.
Steve, W6SJP, who was previously BY/W6SJP, in Beijing, has relocated to Florida and was visible on the WSPR map overnight. Its nice to have Steve back in the US again and I look forward to seeing his reports as he gets settled into his new homestead.
Doug, K4LY / WH2XZO, reports receive problems that may be related to a failed preamp located on his receive loop. Its possible that the RF field originating from Doug’s transmit antenna simply burned out the front end. Status this morning is pending.
Steve, VE7SL, re-posted comments on his blog that I had posted in the LOWFER reflector in response to a question by Jim, K9JWV / WI2XJG (grant pending). Thanks to Steve for his efforts and support of MF and LF activities!
Neil, W0YSE/7 / WG2XSV, reports that the “diode effect” is alive and well:
Regional and continental WSPR breakdowns follow:
